Sharman Owings

I'm a painter livng in Enumclaw, Washington with my sculptor husband, Ross Brown. We live in the foothills on the west side of Mt. Rainier. Our 5 acres houses us, a painting studio, sculpture studio and our own foundry. We also produce custom, cast bronze door and cabinet hardware. My weapon of choice is oil paint though I occassionally stray into other areas. The one constant is color.

I've been painting or dabbling since I was about 10. There have been some mandatory life breaks; raising my son and "making a living". Since meeting my sculptor husband in 1987 my efforts have been much less sporadic. For all intents and purposes I am self taught. Junior high and high school provided a basic foundation but beyond that it has just been search, struggle and seize what works.
